future plans
hello hello, gamedev is serious business
now that the demo has been out for a while, here's some future plans now that i've got some feedback:
- improve controls! rn the controls can feel a little laggy for a rhythm game since the punch happens when you let go of the button rather than when you press it. while i'm at it, i'll make the controls easier to understand too and give each punch a different use
- improve enemies! gotta adapt the enemy scripts to match the new controls
- make a tutorial! like, really gotta make a tutorial and also put it in the demo. rn people are having trouble understanding the controls, my bad oops
- improve animations! drawing assets are tiring, so i'd like some way to streamline the assets i need to draw. something that's more flexible than the standard puppet animation is what i'm aiming for. there's a certain aesthetic and motion i want to get right so that's what i'm working on.
- shaders! rn game has no lighting, would like to write a shader to handle the shadows and stuff, would look pretty neat if i get it right
- finish the main campaign! there are 3 other stages for the main story
- see if i can get the extra quests in there as well! hopefully before the year ends
it's been pretty swell learning how to make a game, probably should've started with game jams but i guess i prefer taking my time with stuff like this lol.
